Our first full day around Rutland Water today. Started off going to Egleton to explore the main part of the nature reserve. Nice day, sunny with a bit of warmth in the air. Had a good look at the birds from the various hides around the reserve and walked quite a distance. Lunch time and we found a garden centre close to the caravan site at Manton. Wellies coffee shop is located inside the garden centre and serves very nice cakes and sandwiches.

After lunch we went down to the Lyndon part of the reserve to see the two remaining Ospreys, they were both sitting close to their nest. Stayed about 10 minutes, did not get chance to take any good photos as the birds were not that close to the hide and I did not have a decent camera at this time. We then left and headed to Melton Mowbray to try and find a decent pork pie. About a 10 mile drive, though it took half an hour as the roads were quite twisty. We managed to make it into the town centre and saw a sign 'Ye Olde Pork Pie Shop'. The town centre was not quite what I was expecting, a bit dull and the pork pie shop took a bit of finding as someone had turned the sign the wrong way around. When we located the shop we purchased a large pork pie for later, though on trying a sample I found the pastry a bit too sweet. Had a quick (very quick) look around the town centre and found a Yorkshire Trading store in Nottinghamshire! Selling the usual reduced price stuff that no one really wants. Then it was back to the caravan for pork pie and to pack up ready to move the caravan tomorrow.
