Thursday evening was the monthly classic cars night at the caravan site. Once a month around 50 cars meet up on the field from around 5.30pm. At 6pm the hog roast is served and the bar is open in the club house. The meet usually goes on until around 7.30pm. We were visited by our friend Jane, who is also a Rutland volunteer, for the evening. After a very nice hog roast we went back to the caravan for the rest of the evening for a few drinks.

Saturday morning started with teacakes and coffee in the clubhouse followed by a trip out to Brigstock during the afternoon for the annual beer festival in the village hall. Very busy, some interesting entertainment and a selection of beers and ciders to try. The Mango cider was a nice one, very sweet and quite thick. There was a selection of stalls and rides outside, but as it was raining most people just went into the village hall.

Back to the caravan site for film night with fish and chips. The fish and chips were provided by the chip shop in Uppingham. The film tonight was La La Land, which was accompanied by a bottle of wine and deserts, during the interval, of Pistachio cake and Lemon Meringue pie.

On Sunday morning we set off to Normanton to meet up with a number of people who volunteered at the Bird Fair during August. The event was limited to 90 people and took place on the Rutland Belle. We started off with a one hour cruise from outside Normanton church followed by sandwiches and cakes in the church after.

We then went to Stamford in the afternoon for a look around for an hour. A nice stone town with a good shopping area. More information on Stamford available here.
