Ferry to Dublin

The site is only a 20 minute drive from the ferry port at Holyhead, and Stena Line were doing £5 day returns to Dublin so off we went, arriving for the early morning ferry just before 8am. First thing to do as soon as we boarded the ferry was to hunt out a breakfast, and it was very nice too, complete with black pudding.

On arriving we thought it would be quicker to get a taxi into Dublin rather than wait for a bus. We shared a taxi with two others who were also visiting for the day. Cost around $10 so not bad and beat the bus by around 30 minutes. First stop was the Guinness brewery, where we had a good tour and some tastings, as well as having a go at pulling a pint at the Guinness Academy.

Pulling a pint of Guinness.

Next, we headed across the river to the old Jameson distillery for another tour and some whisky tastings before heading to Temple Bar for dinner (Irish Stew) and some very nice Guinness and lamb stew. Around 7pm we looked for a taxi to take us back to the ferry terminal for the late evening ferry back to Holyhead. Arrived back just after midnight after a very busy day.
