Quick trip to Scarborough

Woke up early, around 7am. Looked nice outside so decided to take the dog for a walk from our holiday cottage in Bempton along the short track to RSPB Bempton Cliffs. I usually take my binoculars and camera with me where ever I go, but today I forgot as I thought there would not be a lot to see as the Puffins left towards the end of August. Arrived at the car park and saw a big group of people standing around close to a mixture of trees and bushes. I went over to enquire as to what has been seen and there was a very rare Greenish Warbler and a few Pied Flycatchers flying around. Two new birds for me this year and I had forgotten my camera. Had a quick walk to the end of the cliffs and got a few basic images using my iPhone. Not the best quality though. Gannets flying around and making a lot of noise, watched for a few minutes then headed back into Bempton.

After packing up, making a few quick trips to drop off/pick up a few remaining things to/from various people, we headed to Scarborough to join mother, Helen and Joe (with kids) on the beach for fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens. A very nice day, so there was a lot of people on the beach. As there are so many people to visit, we did not get chance to go around everyone so another trip North will be needed at some point. A few goes on some of the games in the amusements before heading off on our 150 mile trip back to our caravan in Northamptonshire. Straight down the A64 towards Leeds then the A1 to Stamford. With a quick stop off at our usual halfway point (Blyth services) for an average tasting Greggs coffee and a cake, then the final hour back home (caravan).

Arrived back to find the caravan site quite full for the weekend, a few hours spent cleaning up and unpacking our few boxes from the car before doing nothing for the rest of the evening (found Full Monty on BBC1, not seen it for years so watched it).
